For the first time in history, I'm having a mind block when this page opens... I don't know what to write about... Guess there's too much things going in my head that I don't know where to start... I think I'm ready to let go of the past and take the step forward in life after the episode on the attachment problem. I'm ready to tell my part of the story of what exactly happened...
I was attached to Pfizer QC laboratory for my attachment and it was stated that I would be there for the whole duration of 6 months. Things was going smoothly for the first month when I was there. We were given trainings for the equipments and learnt much about the processes in the manufacturing plant. Under the QC lab, I was under the API team and my duty was to perform some of the physical tests such as appearance, IR and water content. However, things start to go wrong during the second month.
After my training on some of the equipments, I was needed to cover some of the duties of my team members. It was then that I made some mistakes which seems serious in their eyes. Firstly, I got into an arguement with my supervisor over the report where I've exchanged the values of the pressure for the individual readings which I've written at the wrong place. The chemist who sported my mistake tolde me to change the pressure values because she said that the reading is dependent on the pressure. However, this was not the case. When, my supervisor went through the reports, she asked why I've changed the values over and when I told her that my trainer and the chemist involved in the report told me that it is dependent on the reading, she didn't believed me. Instead, she got another chemist to verify the claim. What made me furious was that she should have got the original chemist who retify the problem and not another one who didn't really know the exact problem. In the end, they reprimanded me for writing the values in the wrong position. I was like:'HUH'?? The plates have two sets of serial numbers that it could be confusing for a newbie like me to understand which one was the correct one to take note of for the report. Anyway, I just took it in my strike and took it as a lesson learnt.
Secondly, there was an issue of writing the wrong value on the report and they asked why is it so. The value which I wrote wrongly was 0.2+ which I've cancelled it and rewrote the correct entry of 0.1+. They enquired why I've written the wrong value... Knowing that I've redone the experiment because it did not meet the criteria, I did not tell them the truth. Instead, I told them that I wasn't feeling well and didn't see the correct value when I wrote it down. In the end, my supervisor got 2 chemists to see the way I've done the things for that particular test.
Thirdly, there was the issue when I've raised an investigation about the spectrum for the sample. During the investigation, I realised that they have been hiding the additional peak of the spectrum and approving the sample.
All in all, I could say that my supervisor didn't like me at all. She gave reasons such as: I was a liability to the team which would affect the efficiency of the team. She wanted me out... In the end, there was this big drama betweem my school and the company over the issue of the termination of my attachment.
I was extremely upset because I've given my best when I was there and was deeply hurt when they accused me of something which I did not do. The worst thing was that the lecturer didn't believed me when he asked about the reasons which might lead to the termination. After some time, he believed me that I was truly innocent because my second attachment has proven that I was a good worker with the good feedback from my supervisor.
During those days, I was in a bad mood and my emotions were swinging from side to side... I couldn't control my emotions at all. A slight provoke from others would lead me in tears. Those tears would fall so easily down my face and my eyes would turn so red... It was a period of stress and turmoil for me....
But I'm glad that this has been an eye-opener for me, teaching me not to be so trusting with people at work. The politics in company could be so fatal that it causes me to lose my attachment. This has been an experience for me...
